DIY – Wood Heating HotTub

HomeMadeModern showed a great idea on building a Wood Burning Hot Tub.  With minor improvements, you can enjoy this project in your backyard or out in the pasture in the middle of winter or after a long day of work.  Video below to show how to do it.  Here is a step by step instruction on the small project:

– Create a footer by building a form that will be under the stock tank and filling it with concrete.  Just simply go to your local hardwood store to buy some concrete bags.

– The stock tank they used was a 135 gallon aluminum stock tank.  Just remember the larger you go the longer it takes to warm the water.

– Use 20 feet of 3/4 inch copper tubing and coil it with a 5 gallon bucket.  To secure them use a t-post to secure the coil to it.  Simply use bailing wire to secure the coil to the t-post.

– Typically the aluminum stock tank has existing build in holes. Simply connect the copper tubing and the stock tank.  Make sure to buy fittings that are quick connects and have seal them with silicon.

– The cover is made out of redwood planks.  Just to cut to satisfaction.

– Increasing the tube from 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch should heat up the hot tub quicker.

The water in the is tub came up to 110 degrees! Simply maintain it by burning some wood while in use.
